The Point is a Chicago-based print journal publishing rigorous but accessible writing about contemporary life. The journal is published twice-yearly and available for order online and in select bookstores. The website features selected content from the magazine, as well as some original articles. Please see our submission guidelines below if you are interested in contributing.

The Point welcomes submissions for the website and print journal. The website will be running essays ranging from 1500-3000 words on contemporary arts and culture—we are especially happy to publish anything relating to the Chicago theater or visual art scene. For the print journal, contributors should keep in mind that we have three sections: essays, a symposium and reviews. Essays can be between 4000-7000 words, while reviews can be anywhere from 1000-2500 words. Proposals for articles should be sent to: thepointmagazine@gmail.com with the subject line, “Submission.” Please include a detailed description of your proposal and writing samples if possible. The Point does not publish fiction or poetry.
