580 Split was founded about 10 years ago in the MFA program at Mills College as an opportunity for graduate students to gain experience in running a literary journal; it also works to provide the opportunity to connect with a larger writing community. 580 Split is a still-evolving journal that seeks to publish quality work from new and established writers and artists.
